Good designers should constantly learn. As storytellers, knowing about various topics helps making more creative stories come to life.
My name is Jos de Boer, a Dutch designer born in the digital age. I see myself as a curious person, always looking to learn new things. I’m also a storyteller, which I convey through designs, videos and articles.
Next to art and history, I developed a passion for design and honed my skills during my bachelor and master studies in digital design. Throughout the years I’ve gathered hands-on work experience as a graphic designer, videographer and journalist.
After graduating high school, I enrolled in the course ‘Communication and Multimedia Design’ at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. This is were my journey as a designer began. I was taught about coding, graphic design and user experience design. The latter, together with interaction design in a broader sense, became my speciality. During the study, I also followed a few internships were I worked as a graphic designer and video editor. This allowed me to gain some first hand experience working in the field.
After five years (and a pandemic) I managed to obtain my bachelors degree. I started to work as a print designer and journalist for my local printshop and newspaper agency. Whilst this was great work, I decided that I still had more to learn. That’s why I enrolled in the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences’ master programme called ‘Master Digital Design’. During this year, I further honed my skills and specialized in designing interactive installations for museums.
And here I am now
I’m currently looking for a job in the field of interaction design. I hope to utilise my broad skillset, gather new experience and become a valuable asset in a design company.
