After studying Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft, I worked as a designer and researcher for various companies. A PhD opportunity with BMW in Munich allowed me to dive into the nerdy (and often theoretical) details of car interiors, comfort theory, and user experience. As a postdoc, I studied the connection between products, happiness, and wellbeing. However, I began to miss the hands-on application of these theories. This led me to the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where I now teach as a senior lecturer within the Communication and Multimedia Design programme. As a design researcher, I’ve collaborated with various research groups—for example, psychology for sustainable cities and child & youth social care—but whenever possible, I love to initiate my own research-through-design projects.
