Students Master Digital Design Win Creative Jam
Four students of the Master Digital Design were part of the winning team of the Creative Jam. Dewi Lagerberg, Mahdis Vahabi, Negin Bokaeiolmousavi, and Stefan van Brummelen impressed the jury at Dutch Design Week with their interactive series.
Participants in this year’s Creative Jam were challenged to think about how to strengthen the mental health of young people experiencing loneliness. According to JoinUS, an organisation working in this field, 34% of Dutch people between 12 and 30 years old feel lonely sometimes; while 10% experience acute loneliness.
(Not) Home Alone
The winning idea is (Not) Home Alone - an interactive series that gives the audience the chance to decide what the main character will do next. Will they sit next to someone on the train or will they sit by themselves?
The team found this to be a good way for the audience to see how different decisions can impact an outcome; and, most importantly, for them to realise that they’re not alone in experiencing the feelings they have.
The Creative Jam is an annual event organised by Dutch Digital Design, Dutch Design Agencies, and Night of the Nerds. It sees dozens of design students in The Netherlands engaged in ideating on a challenge brought to them by the organisers. This year, students were briefed by the non-profit JoinUS, whose preventing aid approach has been adopted by 80 municipalities in the country.
